Patchbay Neighborhood Sound Lab is a station where people of all ages and abilities may gather to play music together; to learn and share skills in music technology and creative expression; to discover new ways to listen; and to experiment with music and sound in a supportive environment.
Awarded by the Vancouver Park Board, Patchbay is currently in residence at Elm Park’s fieldhouse.
Stewarding the space are Charlie Cooper and c. o. valenza — composers, performers, and close friends who collaborate on collective sounding and listening practices.
We are excited to bring folks together through curiosity, music, and the sounds of the neighborhood!
Accessibility
The Elm Park fieldhouse is an older, single-level building located within Elm Park. The entrance and doorways at the fieldhouse are about 28 inches wide. There is a private washroom available in the fieldhouse quarters and public washrooms in the adjoining building, however both lack grab bars and room to maneuver with mobility aides. The paved path leading to the fieldhouse area is uneven, and intermittently under construction.
There is free parking on Larch St between 41st and 43rd, as well as between Larch and Elm street. By transit, the 41 bus stops right at the park, at Larch St.
Snacks and water are available at all events. All events have a relaxed performance model for time commitment.
Fieldhouse schematics can be found here. Further details on the park can be found here.
